I'll Take the Blogosphere Over MSM News Any Day

I don’t do fair and balanced, Cindy ... never have, and never claimed to. This is a blog, not an "objective" news source. It’s time you got a clue.

- Bruce McQuain, QandO.

Both political blogs and mainstream media news have spin. The difference is political blogs are upfront and don't try to hide it so readers don't have to work nearly as hard to filter it out.

Tony Blair Gets to the Heart of the Iraq Debate

Since the release of the Iraq Study Group's findings this past Wednesday, I've been thoroughly disappointed with how the report's findings have been covered in the mainstream media.

Most of the reporting has centered around the theme that the findings are a "rebuke of Bush['s policy]."

How does that add anything to the public debate? This is important. It's not a time to cast blame; it's not a time turn the fact the ISG has come up with differing ideas from the President into some sort of soap opera.

Refreshingly, in the midst of a very contentious press conference, Tony Blair cuts to the heart of the matter:

I think the analysis of the situation is not really in dispute. The question is, how do we find the right way forward?

- The Boston Globe, December 8, 2006

Everyone knows the situation in Iraq is bad. The question is, what do we do now? If we stay, we appear to be looking at more of the same. But what happens if we leave? This question is what the press should be investigating and reporting on.
